Cheap Accom...

Postby snobrdr on Sat Feb 14, 2009 3:00 pm

hi Guys (and girls) mostly the guys tho...

BF and me were down from Fife a couple of weeks ago for the first time to Newcastle and really enjoyed ourselfs.
We're coming down again on the 27th of Feb but for us to be able to stay for the 2 nights we really need somewhere cheap to stay.
Somewhere near the scene, a B&B would be enough no frills we don't care.
Last time we paid a fortune at the Quayside and it was shite, nice area, hated the accom.
So if any of you nice people could gimme some info we'd really appreciate it.

Thanks guys, (and girls).

Hiya snobrdr - Glad you enjoyed your stay in Newcastle :)

Theres not that many B n B's close to the scene - mainly all hotels (holiday inn, Jurys Inn etc). Holiday inn expressis 90£ a night - keep an eye on the site as they offer discounted rates for last min booking (couple days notice) - so book up somewhere and you could always just canx if you get a decent rate!

If you dont mind hoping in a taxi Jesmond has loads on offer (and 5 mins from the scene) the rates are around the 60£ a night mark.

Theres a B n B at the top end of the town which is popular as its cheap n chatty (but clean) The Brandling - looks like a trip back in time though so dont expect anything special :D. You would need to taxi back as its a fair distance from the town.

Hope that helps, Im sure if anyone knows anything they will let you know
Enjoy your trip

There's also the Durham House Hotel on Durham Road in Gateshead which is cheap and cheerful and also gay owned. Cheap taxi ride to and from the scene!

The powerhouse has a special deal for customers at the holiday inn express opposite the club of £70 a night per room. Either book on line by clicking there logo on newcastlegay home page or if you ring the hotel direct quote "PUR" . Its on the otherside of the road to the powerhouse so no taxi fares.

also try laterooms http://www.laterooms.com/

OpheliaB runs a guest house in gateshead which is £50 a night double or £25 single on a weekend.(£7 taxi ride i think)http://www.durhamhousehotel.com/home.html

remember if you stay in an area not in the center of newcastle you'll need to factor in taxi fares to and from the scene.

Wow thats really good about the Holiday Inn - I much rather stay there than have to grap a taxi to another place (saves all the hassle and its in staggering distance from the PH)

Why not mention this discount (and any others around) on the home page - it may attract some out of towners to the area :)

Currently, our lowest priced cheap accomodation in Rome is a lovely little 1 bedroom apartment near San Lorenzo at only 88 Euros/night. It can sleep 2+1 and is well located in a true down to earth Roman area where you'll mix with the locals and pay local prices.
